Could Vitamin D fight Covid-19?

The Mail on Sunday have reported that scientists are investigating a potential link between Corona virus survivors and their levels of Vitamin D.
A ten-week trial involving 200 Covid-19 patients will seek to establish if the ‘Sunshine Vitamin’ can help fight the virus.

It is a well known fact that Vitamin D is essential for a healthy immune system.
And the best source of Vitamin D is UV light which are the rays produced by both the sun and tanning beds that tan the skin.

Dr Jenna Macciochi of the University of Sussex has been reported as saying ‘If you are deficient in Vitamin D, you are three to four times more likely to catch a cold. It therefore makes sense a viral respiratory infection like Covid-19 would be worse if you were Vitamin D deficient.’

So by whichever means, it’s never been more important to get your tan on!
Stay safe everyone. x
